ABOUT TANZANIA

Tanzania is a country in East Africa with approximately 50 million people, out of them 800,000 are Maasais located mostly in Northern Tanzania.

Maasais are natural conservationists with evidence that all the famous National Parks such as Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Manyara and Tarangire are located with areas that historically belonged to the Maasai. To date, these National Parks still border Maasai settlements and both wild animals and Maasai cows graze together freely.

Tanzania is the second largest livestock keeper in Africa with approximately 27 million cows. Maasais are among the largest livestock keepers in the country owning more than 5 million cows. Their livelihood depending exclusively on livestock keeping where the main livestock products are raw milk, unprocessed meat, unprocessed hides and skins.
